Who We Are

ALDOG (pronounced “ALL dog”) promotes environmental stewardship, responsible dog ownership, and diversity of uses and users in our public parks. We are a grassroots, volunteer community. Your donation isn’t tax-deductible but it helps us continue our outreach, education, and parks cleanups.

Our mission is to preserve and improve the environment, uphold responsible dog ownership, educate the public about dogs, and promote off-leash exercise as a healthy, community-building activity. We support inclusive, multi-use parks that balance recreation and preservation throughout the East Bay. We cherish the unique history, traditions, habitat, and art of the Albany Landfill area.

ALDOG has been a California Coastal Commission adopter of Albany Beach since 2013. Since then, we have removed nearly 8,000 pounds of debris from Albany Beach, including 2,440 pounds sifted by 115 volunteers in six hours at our October 2017 microplastics cleanup. That groundbreaking event, “Sift the Sand,” was the first big microplastics cleanup in the East Bay and was made possible by a grant to ALDOG from the Alameda Countywide Clean Water Program.

We work closely with other dog owner groups and recreation organizations around the Bay Area. Our immediate pack includes Lamorinda Dogs,  Oakland Dog Owners Group, Point Isabel Dog Owners and Friends, Share the Trails, and the East Bay’s organization for professional dog walkers.
