ALDOG & Friends is committed to safe, inclusive, shared public parks where everyone feels welcome. We consider that fundamental to building community and caring for our open spaces.
Here are eight ways that dog advocates can help the cause:
- Keep your dog leashed in posted areas, ensure that it doesn’t annoy people in the parks, and clean up after it.
- Don’t let your dog hassle birds, deer or other animals in the parks. Keep dogs out of the mudflats at low tide.
- Sign the ALDOG petition, get four – or 40 – other signatures, and send it back to us.
- Volunteer to visit a park or pet food store to gather signatures.
- From time to time we may need you to write to an official or turn up at an important hearing. Please sign up (see box to the right) for our short, sweet, and infrequent email updates and alerts.
- People who visit Albany Beach with their dogs have cleaned trash from the beach daily for years. Join us in that effort at the beach and please pick up an extra poop next time you’re on the Plateau.
- Donate $5 or $10 or $25 to help ALDOG volunteers cover the costs of the website, copying of petitions, email blasts, and other expenses.
- Are you a lawyer, videographer or photographer who’s soft on dogs? Are you good at organizing people or doing research? How about public policy or public relations? ALDOG is eager to hear from all of you. Please join the pack!
